Whole-building systems. Community-centered outcomes.

Joseph Amader Consulting helps homeowners associations, multifamily communities, and mission-aligned organizations improve building performance, reduce energy costs, and strengthen climate resilience through whole-building, passive-first strategies.

With more than 20 years of experience across building science, weatherization, utility programs, and clean energy delivery, Joseph brings a systems-thinking approach that prioritizes demand reduction, occupant comfort, and long-term stewardship before recommending new equipment or generation.

His work integrates utility data analysis, passive design principles, and governance-aware planning to support clear, board-ready decisions. Joseph is an Inaugural Fellow of the University of San Diego’s Global Executive Seminar, a Passive House Network Pacific cohort participant, and a certified building science professional. He is known for translating technical complexity into practical solutions aligned with community values and responsible governance.

What we DO

A Practice Designed for HOAs & Multifamily Communities

Joseph Amader Consulting specializes in working with homeowners associations, co-housing communities, and multifamily properties — environments where technical decisions must align with volunteer governance, reserve planning, and shared values.

His work prioritizes:

• Passive design strategies for existing buildings

• Utility data benchmarking and load-shape analysis

• Climate risk and heat-resilience planning

• Clean energy and electrification readiness

• Clear, board-ready decision support

Rather than leading with technology, Joseph helps communities understand what their buildings are already telling them through data, comfort issues, and operating costs — then builds phased strategies from that foundation.

About the Founder

Joseph Amader

Whole-Building Systems | Passive-First | Community-Centered

Joseph Amader is a building performance and clean energy professional with more than two decades of experience helping communities navigate the intersection of buildings, energy systems, and long-term stewardship.

His work is grounded in a core belief developed through years of field experience:

lasting performance improvements come from treating buildings as integrated systems — not collections of parts.

From Programs to Systems

Joseph’s career spans utility energy-efficiency programs, weatherization, quality assurance, training, and consulting. He has led multidisciplinary teams, managed complex public and nonprofit programs, and supported thousands of households through energy upgrades that reduce cost, improve comfort, and lower energy burden.

Along the way, he gained rare visibility into why many energy projects underperform — not because the technology fails, but because decisions are made without fully accounting for building envelope conditions, occupant behavior, climate exposure, or governance constraints.

This insight led Joseph to adopt a passive-first, whole-building approach, emphasizing demand reduction, resilience, and right-sized solutions that communities can support and sustain over time.
